Alyssa and Doug are preparing to tie the knot in a week and it occurred to them before walking down the aisle, they wanted to schedule a quick little session to get some casual shots of just the two of them, since they realized they don’t really have any nice pictures together. We squeezed in this mid-day session, in between a downpour and thunderstorms, which equated to really humid and hot conditions. Even though it was quick, we managed to get some sweet moments and great smiles of these two before the fancy clothes come on. Stay tuned for their wedding day pictures!
Lisa & Charlie are so smitten with each other! I mean look at these two…seriously. As I was editing through their session, I just smiled and felt a whole lot of admiration for the love and respect these two have for one another. They chose to do their session at their first date location, the Nelson Atkins Art Museum. They are carefree, silly, fun, comfortable and at ease, which made for an awesome time and easy job on my part. Lisa is a super caring, beautiful, compassionate gal and Charlie is damn funny, easy going and doesn’t take himself too seriously. Yes, Charlie and Lisa, two creative souls, are engaged and I wish these two all the best as they lead up to the next chapter of their lives together!
It was home for the Thanksgiving holidays for Elizabeth and Zack, and we managed to squeeze in a Kansas City engagement session in between visiting family, eating lots of turkey and naps on the couch. These two moved to NYC a couple years ago so that Elizabeth could pursue her MFA in Illustration at the School of Visual Arts and she’s pretty dang talented and has done well for herself, as you can see for yourself. Zack was up for the adventure and followed his love to the big city, where they would begin another chapter to their journey. I met Elizabeth when she worked at Hallmark and I’m truly honored to have been asked to document not only their engagement, but will be photographing their wedding in the Spring in Lawrence, KS. Stay tuned for more on these two when the grass is greener, the birds are chirpin’ and the days are a little longer and sweeter!
I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing this beautiful, fun-loving couple on an unexpectedly not-so-hot Saturday morning at the Library Lofts, where Nick had proposed to Lindsey over a year ago. The two had met through mutual friends and it was at the Library lofts that he had tried to plant his first kiss on her and she played hard to get. Now you can see why this spot was a must for their engagement pictures. They will get married on the sunny beaches of Florida in a few short weeks, followed by a big party with friends and family back in KC, which I am honored to photograph! Lindsey’s gorgeous smile will be beaming come September. Stay tuned for more on these two!
Emily and Nils will be tying the knot in September in Emily’s home state of Pennsylvania, but in the meantime, it was time to get out for their engagement pictures before it got any hotter in KC. It was definitely a warm late afternoon/early evening, but it didn’t seem to effect these two and their pictures at all! Emily is glowing in all her beauty and it’s not because of sweat, people; She’s just that gorgeous and oh-so-in-love with her handsome fiance. We took some shots outside of their home and at the park and finished up at their favorite, cute little neighborhood restaurant, Chai Shai nestled in Brookside. They wanted to include some bike shots, since that is one of their favorite things to do with each other, which was a lot of fun. Emily was the only person I kinda knew when I first moved out to KC, almost 7 years ago. She graduated a year ahead of me and was also recruited by Hallmark at the NY Art Director’s club portfolio review. I reached out to her when I flew in from my interview and I’m pretty sure she’s a huge reason why I decided to move here. She drove me around and showed me KC, told me about Hallmark and her experience and the rest is history. Our friendship, even though we hail from the same Alma mater, developed out here, through many happy hours, weekend activities, and Thanksgivings away from home and she will always be part of my KC family that feels like home. I couldn’t be happier for you both and I look forward to traveling back east for what will be a beautiful, memorable wedding.
Sarah is the beautiful bride-to-be that this lovely group of ladies celebrated, before she soon runs off to tie the knot with her lucky fiancé, Nate. She was showered with all kinds of great gifts that will surely help to create a happy and warm home, but not without a little bit of good ol’ fashion fun. That’s where the bubble gum comes into play. With every wrong answer to a question of “how well does this couple know each other,” Sarah chomped on one more piece of this bubblicious gum. Needless to say, that wad didn’t get too out of control, but enough to get a few laughs and funny faces. Carrie and friends, you put on a beautiful shower for your dear friend, Sarah, and so happy to document and be part of this special day! Congrats, Sarah!
